Inclusive Games Training
The Inclusive Games Training programme is a two hour practical course available to SNA’s, parents, carers, coaches and leaders.  This course will show you how to play and organise various games that are suitable for all children. You will also be shown how to adapt the games to suit people with disabilities. The course gives practical examples of ways to include people with disabilities in any sport and physical activity programme. All the equipment needed is outlined and you will be shown how to make your own equipment.
At the end of the course each participant will receive a manual detailing all the games, activities that were taught so that you will be able to organise activities with your own group. The manual contains copies of resource cards showing the warm ups, games and activities that you will be taught.

Girls in Action

GIRLS IN ACTION is a joint initiative funded by the HSE and Louth Local Sports Partnership . The programme was offered to all secondary schools with female pupils in Co. Louth and is currently running in 10 secondary schools in the county. The Girls in Action programme provides a model of good practice which encourages young girls to participate in physical activity.  The main aim of the programme is to provide more opportunities for teenage girls to participate in non-competitive activities.  It is hoped that this experience will help girls develop a more positive attitude towards sport and physical activity.

The programme coordinators liaise directly with the participating shcools, the pupils and their teachers and the activity instructors. Activities offered to the girls include yoga, aerobics, zumba dance, fencing, kickboxing, circuits and self defence.

To celebrate the end of the second year of the project, Louth LSP and the HSE organised a Girls in Action activity day which took place in The Ice Dome, Dundalk on 14th April 2010.   The girls were give skating lessons and got to try out activities on the ice.  The event proved very enjoyable for all participants with new skills learned by all the girls involved.
